The Seattle Seahawks’ backfield broke down during the final stretch of the regular season and will face the Philadelphia Eagles’ stingy run defense Sunday in a wild card weekend matchup.
Both Chris Carson (hip) and C.J. Prosise (arm) both suffered season-ending injuries in Week 16, not long after Rashad Penny tore his ACL in Week 14. This opened the door for Marshawn Lynch and Travis Homer to make their marks in the running game, and we saw some of what that might look like against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 17.
Fantasy football analysis: Seahawks RBs Marshawn Lynch, Travis Homer
Lynch and Homer combined for 96 yards on the ground against a 49ers’ run defense that has been decent but not great. The two backs should have a tougher time on the road against the Eagles’ run defense. The unit ranked fourth in Football Outsiders’ DVOA metric. They haven’t allowed one running back to score multiple touchdowns against them since Week 9. It looks like Seattle’s rushing attack will be by committee. Don’t expect Lynch or Homer to stand out as a feature back against Philadelphia.
Start/Sit Recommendation
Neither Lynch or Homer has much upside, so you should sit both.
