The Seahawks were inches away from home field advantage this coming weekend, but they came up short and lost a nail biter to the San Francisco 49ers in Week 17. Those few inches have now forced them to travel thousands of miles to face the Philadelphia Eagles in the WC round of the playoffs this Sunday. While the Seahawks may be weary from travel, the Eagles are weary from a boatload of injuries. Eagles cornerbacks Sidney Jones, Avonte Maddox, and Jalen Mills are three of the many members of the Eagles squad who have been logging limited practices this week. Can the Seahawks wide receivers capitalize on these injuries for big performances on Sunday? We break down the fantasy football implications below.
Fantasy football advice, Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Tyler Lockett
Tyler Lockett started the season as the undisputed No. 1 wideout in Seattle. However, since returning from a leg injury earlier this season, Lockett has failed to consistently perform from week to week. In the six games since his return, Lockett has hauled in anywhere from 0 to 8 receptions, and has only scored two touchdowns. Lockett definitely has potential for a big game against an Eagles depleted secondary that even struggled at times when healthy. Unfortunately, he comes with a high price tag of $7200, making him the fourth most expensive receiver this weekend. While Lockett may very well live up to his high price tag, you are likely to find more value elsewhere.
Fantasy football advice, Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf
The reason Lockett is no longer the undisputed No. 1 wideout in Seattle is due to the presence of DK Metcalf. Metcalf has become a force to be reckoned with over the course of the season, and Russell Wilson’s trust in Metcalf seems to have only grown with time. He is a big presence in the end zone and has shown that he has big play capability. The Eagles are tied for 2nd in the NFL in giving up the most 40+ yard plays this season. Metcalf also has a height advantage of anywhere from two inches to seven inches depending which of the Eagles defensive backs he is matched up against this weekend, making him an ideal redzone target. While his fantasy potential is very comparable to that of Tyler Lockett this weekend, he comes at a significant discount at the price of $6100. Metcalf is a player to target in DFS lineups this weekend as a value play.
Start/Sit Advice:
Start Lockett in DFS lineups, but not a priority target due to high price
Start Metcalf in DFS lineups as a discount play with high upside
