Patriots-Titans could be Tom Brady’s final home game

The New England Patriots host the Tennessee Titans in the Wild Card round of the 2020 NFL playoffs, and if chalk holds to form, this would be the Patriots final home game of the season. If that’s the case, it raises the question of whether or not this is the final time Tom Brady will play a home game at Gillette Stadium.

OK, that is probably not true, but it won’t stop tongues from wagging until a new deal gets done. Brady’s contract voids at the end of the current league year, after which he would be an unrestricted free agent. The deal requires that the team not be allowed to use the franchise or transition tags on Brady, which means he could leave for no draft pick compensation (aside from the comp pick formula).

NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport discussed the situation and talked about how the Patriots want to get something done and Robert Kraft might step in to make sure Brady finishes his career with the Patriots.

Odds are pretty good he will sign a new deal with New England, but until it happens, the rumor mill will be in high gear. Any team with a quarterback problem and cap space will be mentioned as a candidate to try and overwhelm Brady with a huge offer. It likely won’t matter in the end, but until he actually puts pen to paper with the Patriots, speculation will linger.
