The postseason is set to begin Saturday and Draftkings Sportsbook has some Wild Card weekend betting specials based on how much scoring we might see. The Buffalo Bills, Houston Texans, Tennessee Titans, New England Patriots, Minnesota Vikings, New Orleans Saints, Seattle Seahawks, and Philadelphia Eagles will all take the field. We took a look at four sleeper bets you should consider making.
Highest scoring team: Seattle Seahawks (+550)
Russell Wilson was considered an MVP frontrunner for much of the 2019 season because of his mobility, ability to make any throw, and knack for coming through in the clutch. He has a chance to do all of those things against the Eagles on Sunday. Philadelphia’s secondary is weak, but so is Seattle’s backfield now that multiple running backs have suffered season-ending injuries. This opens the door for Wilson to throw the ball a lot more to DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett, and potentially light up the Eagles on the road.
Highest scoring game: Seattle Seahawks @ Philadelphia Eagles (+300)
I think Seattle has a chance to run the score up, but that doesn’t mean the Eagles can’t keep things competitive. The Seahawks forked up at least 26 points 10 times this season. While Seattle did manage to bottle up the Eagles once before in 2019, the playoffs are a different atmosphere altogether. Philadelphia eclipsed 30 points themselves three times in the final five weeks of the regular season. If they can conjure up more of that magic, this game could turn into a shootout.
Lowest scoring team: Minnesota Vikings (+400)
The Mercedes-Benz Superdome is one of the most difficult venues to play in, and that doesn’t bode well for Vikings signal caller Kirk Cousins, who has had very little playoff success. Cousins has thrown one career touchdown in the postseason in two appearances and has been known to fall short on the big stage — hence his historically bad 0-9 Monday Night Football record. It’ll be loud in the dome and New Orleans has one of the more tenacious defensive lines in football. Minnesota will also need to work around shutdown cornerback Marshon Lattimore, who will likely be shadowing Stefon Diggs.
Lowest scoring game: Tennessee Titans @ New England Saints
There are a few reasons I doubt this game will be a barn burner. The Patriots have top-notch defense against both the run and the pass and have successfully contained Derrick Henry in the playoffs before, holding him to 28 rushing yards on 12 carries in 2017. Both Tennessee and New England also lack depth at wide receiver. Each team has one top target, and the rest seem questionable. This could lead to both sides pounding the ground and running some clock, resulting in a grinder of a game with a low score.
