The Detroit Pistons asking price for PG Derrick Rose is pretty steep, with the team seeking a “lottery-level” first-round pick, The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported Friday. Rose has been rumored to be on the move in the midst of a resurgence this season. He’d be a very coveted asset for any contender and we’ve already seen the Los Angeles Lakers and Philadelphia 76ers linked to Rose.
Obviously, if you read that first paragraph it’s hard to wrap your head around “lottery-level first-round pick” and “Lakers and Sixers are interested.” Neither team will be in the lottery, so does this mean the Pistons will try and pawn off Rose to a borderline playoff team? I think it screams three-team trade. If the Pistons can find a lottery-level pick somewhere else and Rose can land with a top contender like L.A. or Philly, it works out for both sides.
