The Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers square off in Super Bowl 54 on Sunday, February 2nd. We’ll be breaking down everything you need to know to prepare your daily fantasy football lineups for the big game. We’re starting with a player-by-player preview for the skill position players on the two teams.
The Chiefs have a host of big-time weapons in the passing game, led by Travis Kelce and Tyreek Hill. Even if Kelce or Hill got hurt, Sammy Watkins, Mecole Hardman, and Demarcus Robinson could all pitch in. Tight end Deon Yelder is rather unlikely to emerge as anything more than a blocking option, which is not ideal for daily fantasy football.

Season performance
Yelder was active for nine games this season and inactive for seven. He made his first career reception in Week 4, catching two passes for 43 yards. He caught another pass in Week 10 and had one un-caught target in Week 11. He was inactive Weeks 1, 2, and 13 through 17. When active, he was primarily a blocking tight end and special teams contributor.
Playoff performance
Yelder was active for both playoff games and caught one pass for 11 yards in the Divisional round. He again was primarily a blocker and special teams contributor.
Matchup
Opposing defenses have looked in other directions than the tight end position. Over the course of the season, the 49ers allowed an average of just 6.1 DKFP, 38 receiving yards and seven total touchdowns to opposing tight ends. Of those seven touchdowns, three of them came in one week against the Saints with Jared Cook grabbing two and Josh Hill grabbing the other.
DFS pricing and analysis
There’s no reason to play Yelder at this point. He would be the most punting of punt plays. Even if Kelce was inactive, there are numerous other options that would see targets before Yelder.
