Best bets for Damien Williams Super Bowl 54 props

The Super Bowl brings out every prop bet you can think up, so we get a plethora of opportunities to project individual players’ performances. This game is under the microscope and every player who sees any time on the field will have a role to play. These prop bets give us some ownership over projecting the many, many intricacies of Super Bowl 54.

Kansas City’s every-down running back, Damien Williams, has been a touchdown machine of late, with seven in his last four games. Those touchdown numbers will likely make him a popular prop bet, especially in the touchdown conversation.

Total receptions: Under 3.5, -118

Williams is the Chiefs main receiving back and should see the bulk of the targets, but Williams hasn’t been targeted all that often due to Patrick Mahomes ability to pick up chunk yardage through the air instead of dumping it off for short gainers to Williams. So far this season, Williams has topped 3.5 receptions four times and once in the playoffs. And, if he were playing a different team, I’d probably be inclined to go with the over, but the 49ers are stout against receivers in the pass game. On the season, they gave up the 9th-fewest receptions, 2nd-fewest yards and zero touchdowns to receiving backs. I don’t expect Andy Reid to make a point of testing their linebackers and safeties with Williams through the air.

Total rushing yards: Under 50.5, -112

Williams has topped 50 yards rushing three times this season and missed getting there both times so far in the playoffs. The 49ers are stronger against the run than the pass and I expect Reid and Mahomes to focus on passing. San Francisco gave up an average of 87 rushing yards to running backs per game, which ranked 8th-best in the league. So far, in the playoffs, they’ve allowed 41.5 rushing yards to running backs per game and that included Aaron Jones and Dalvin Cook.

Longest rush: Under 13.5, -112

Much like the total rushing yards prop, this under on Williams’ longest rush is due to the 49ers stout run defense and Williams’ stats on the season. Williams has two massive touchdown runs this season; one for 91 yards and another for 84 yards. When Mahomes is your quarterback, there will be running lanes. But, for the most part, Williams hasn’t been a big play back on the ground. His long runs by game are 6, 5, 6, 6, 4, 9, 91, 15, 3, 12, 84, 26, and 8 yards. That gives him four games where he would have gone over 13.5 yards and this week he gets a 49ers team that hasn’t given up more than 69 rushing yards to a running back since Week 10.
