Overvalued wide receivers to avoid in Super Bowl 54

The San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs are set to face off in Super Bowl 54 next week, and there will be plenty of available DraftKings Showdown contests available for the championship game. Some players’ might not be worth their price tags, so we picked out some overvalued wide receivers of which you should be wary.

49ers WR Deebo Samuel

Samuel has emerged as San Francisco’s top receiver, but he hasn’t had typical WR1 production in the playoffs. The rookie has tallied five receptions for 88 yards in two postseason appearances this year and hasn’t reached the end zone yet. He’s also tallied three rushing attempts for 49 yards. His flex price of $7,600 seems high given that Sammy Watkins ($7,000) has more postseason receptions, receiving yards, and scores. Then there’s the 49ers’ offense, which only threw the ball eight times in the NFC title game. There’s a chance he’ll have a breakout performance, but things aren’t trending that way.

49ers WR Emmanuel Sanders

Sanders has cooled off significantly since being acquired from the Denver Broncos midseason. The bright spark he initially provided the 49ers’ offense has dimmed, and he’s almost been nonexistent in the playoffs. Sanders has only been targeted three times and has converted those opportunities into two receptions for 33 yards. Kendrick Bourne has more targets in the postseason (6) and has reached the end zone. A majority of the few throws Jimmy Garoppolo makes will probably be to Samuel or George Kittle, so it’s hard to see where Sanders has value. You might be better off going cheaper than his $5,400 flex price to bolster the rest of your lineup with more consistent contributors.
