Tevin Coleman making progress, Chris Jones in good shape coming out of bye week

The 49ers and Chiefs head down to Miami later this weekend. In the meantime, we have the bye week final injury report.

The Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers wrapped up their bye week practices and will now head to Miami to begin on-site preparations for Super Bowl 54.

The teams produced three practice reports this week, and closed out the week with final bye week injury reports. The idea is that they provide the player’s status as if the Super Bowl was this Sunday. They will have a new set of injury reports next week, but this provides us an idea of how things are looking heading into game.

San Francisco 49ers bye week injury report

The 49ers biggest question is running back Tevin Coleman. He dislocated his shoulder in the NFC Championship Game and he told beat writer Matt Maiocco it was out of its socket for 25 minutes until an x-ray was completed. He did not practice this week, but reached the point where he was not wearing a non-contact jersey in walkthroughs. He’ll likely get more rest early this coming week. If he can get back to a limited workout by Thursday, he likely has a decent chance of playing on Sunday.

The rest of the 49ers injury report are players dealing with various injuries that will not sideline them next week, but require some rest and being conservative.

Kansas City Chiefs bye week injury report

Defensive tackle Chris Jones missed the Chiefs Divisional round game with a calf injury, but returned to play 42 percent of snaps in the AFC Championship Game. The team is optimistic about his chances moving forward and he will likely get a larger share of snaps in the Super Bowl. I suspect he won’t have a final injury designation next Friday when the final injury report comes out.
