Fight breaks out in Kansas-Kansas State game, suspensions forthcoming

Kansas and Kansas State got into a nasty brawl in the final seconds of their rivalry matchup. Video from the event will likely lead to numerous players facing discipline.

At the tail end of the Kansas Jayhawks’ 81-59 rout of in-state “rival” Kansas State Wildcats, a scuffle between the two teams spilled into the stands behind the basket with one second remaining in the game.

KSU’s DaJuan Gordon went for a steal while Kansas was dribbling out the clock with about four seconds remaining at half-court. Gordon drove to the basket to cut the lead to 19 with a second left, but was swatted by Kansas’s Silvio De Sousa.

It went haywire from there:

We’ll have more as this story breaks, but it looks like KU might be very shorthanded for their rare cross-conference matchup against Tennessee on Saturday. David McCormack and De Sousa look to be the most likely to be there upon first inspection: McCormack averages 7.8 points and 4.7 rebounds in just over 16 minutes a game.

Update, 9:52 EST: Bill Self says there will be “consequences” that he will announce tomorrow after he has the chance to “study” what happened.

And what better way to have the players take that accountability to the public and media postgame... oh.

And considering this, we LOL’ed:
