Both the Chiefs and Titans held opponents to an identical 5.4 yards per play, slightly better than the 2019 league average of 5.5 yards per offensive play. The Chiefs and Titans also generated the same amount of turnovers, each taking the ball away 23 times from opponents.
Fantasy football analysis: Chiefs D/ST vs. Titans D/ST
The Chiefs enter their AFC Conference Championship matchup vs. the Titans expected to be the higher scoring team, as their total points of 29.5 on DraftKings Sportsbook is greater than the Titans’ total points of 22.5. Kansas City’s offense looked close to unstoppable in last week’s win, scoring 51 points, which all came after the first quarter. With the Chiefs looking so potent offensively, combined with being led by an elite QB in Patrick Mahomes ($7,700)—who threw just five interceptions in 14 games—Tennessee is a highly risky fantasy play this week.
However, this is reflected in each DST’s salary, as the Chiefs’ DST costs $1,100 more on DraftKings. With Tennessee priced at the minimum of $2,000, they are a punt play option in large scale tournaments as a potentially low-owned DST. Without taking into account salary, the Chiefs’ DST is in better position to be productive this week in a home game against a less potent offense. Choosing between the two defenses will come down to the type of format that fantasy owners are playing in—tournament or cash game—and whether or not fantasy owners need the extra $1,100 in salary to spend elsewhere.
