UPDATE: Jan. 17, 1:55 p.m. — Teague and Graham won’t make their Hawks season debuts Friday vs. the Spurs. Both are being listed as out.
So for now, Atlanta will continue to use Brandon Goodwin as the backup PG until Teague can play. The Hawks take on the Pistons on Saturday, so Teague and Graham I’d imagine will be available for that game. Still, monitor for updates tomorrow.

The Minnesota Timberwolves have traded Jeff Teague to the Atlanta Hawks for Allen Crabbe, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported Thursday.
Atlanta has traded guard Allen Crabbe to Minnesota for PG Jeff Teague and Treveon Graham, league sources tell ESPN. Hawks get a backup for Trae Young.

The Hawks will also get G Treveon Graham in the deal, per Woj. This is a move to shore up the PG position behind Trae Young, who has dealt with injuries. The Hawks had been using Brandon Goodwin in that role, but he is young and inexperienced. Teague had spent the first seven seasons of his career with the Hawks, reaching the playoffs in every season.
As for the T-Wolves, they hadn’t been starting Teague lately and the veteran had seen his role diminish on the team. Shabazz Napier had taken over as the starting PG and has been producing solid numbers.

So this doesn’t impact Teague’s value so much. It helps a bit, considering he had fallen out of favor in Minnesota. He was only playing around 20 minutes per game off the bench. Now in Atlanta, the Hawks could opt to run lineups that feature both Teague and Trae Young, with Young playing off the ball at SG in some cases. Teague is also capable of playing off the ball, and frankly, the Hawks just don’t have any other reliable guards. Kevin Huerter is young. Cam Reddish is young. De’Andre Hunter is young. Plus, all three are better suited to be playing the 3.
