Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Darius Garland got off to a slow start in his rookie year, but he’s hit a nice stride. Some found it confusing when he was selected fifth overall in the 2019 NBA Draft after appearing in only five collegiate contests. He’s settling in now though, the Cavaliers’ trade deadline moves could increase his value.

Why you should trade for Darius Garland in fantasy basketball

Garland’s season averages of 12.3 points and 2 assists per contest have jumped to 16 points, 5.6 assists over the course of the last 10 games. He’s also reached double-digits in fantasy points nine times during that stretch. It’s no secret that big men Kevin Love and Tristan Thompson are Cleveland’s biggest bargaining chips as the deadline approaches. If both are moved, the Cavaliers will have lost two of their top three scorers. This will give Garland more of a green light, alongside leading scorer Collin Sexton.
