Chiefs DT Chris Jones, RB LeSean McCoy sidelined for first practice of AFC title game week

The Kansas City Chiefs are back at practice on Wednesday to get ready for the Tennessee Titans, and they’re shorthanded on both sides of the ball right out of the gate. Running back LeSean McCoy and defensive tackle Chris Jones are both sitting out the first practice of the week, according to team reporter B.J. Kissel.

McCoy is dealing with an illness that seems to be making its way all around the league. Player after player has missed some practice time due to a bug, but all generally end up playing on Sunday. McCoy is Damien Williams backup, although his playing time status alongside Darwin Thompson is not entirely clear.

Jones injured his calf at practice last Thursday as the Chiefs prepared to fade the Houston Texans. He was limited on Thursday and then a DNP on Friday. He was listed as questionable on the final injury report, and was inactive on Sunday. Head coach Andy Reid later said that Jones wasn’t able to push off during pregame warmups and so he was not going to play. Mike Pennel started in place of Jones last week in the Divisional round.
