Best DFS lineup strategy for Packers-Seahawks in Showdown

The Packers will host the Seahawks in this Divisional Round battle. We’ll go over some options to consider when you’re building you Showdown lineups.

The Packers are well rested and ready to take on the Seahawks, who were able to take down the Eagles during Wild Card Weekend by a score of 17-9. In this piece, we’ll take a look at some potential plays to consider as you build your lineups for DraftKings Showdown.

Captain Obvious

Aaron Jones, RB, Packers ($15,000)

Despite the fact that Jamaal Williams ($5,800) will be active for this game, this is simply a massive spot for Jones to produce. The Seahawks really struggled against the run to close out the regular season and that carried over to Wild Card Weekend. Over their last five games, the Seahawks gave up an average of 106.8 rushing yards and eight (!) rushing touchdowns. Jones is the go-to option for the Packers in the red zone with a 58% red zone carry share, which always puts him in line for multiple touchdowns, something he’s done six times this season. Aaron Rodgers ($10,400) isn’t afraid to look his way either, as Jones has averaged 4.2 targets per game. It’s another area the Seahawks have struggled with, allowing the fifth-most receiving yards to opposing backs and an average of 50 per game. With the Packers as -4.5 favorites, Jones should be in line for plenty of work, making him a captain worthy pick.

Captain Courageous

Tyler Lockett, WR, Seahawks ($12,900)

If anyone is going to captain a Seahawks receiver, the choice is likely to be DK Metcalf ($14,400 as Captain) and rightfully so. Metcalf has emerged as the number one option as he’s averaging 15.5 DKFP over his last five games with three touchdowns in that span. The last two weeks, in particular, has been huge for him, catching 13 of his 21 targets for 241 yards and two of those touchdowns. Lockett, however, is still very much involved, having made 10 catches for 113 yards and a touchdown over the last two weeks. As underdogs, the Seahawks may have to resort to throwing the ball more than usual and Lockett should be in line to benefit. He’ll see a healthy amount of CB Tramon Williams in coverage, who allowed a 61% catch rate on 57 targets for 13.1 YPR.

Flex Men

Allen Lazard, WR, Packers ($6,000)

Lazard is my favorite mid-priced option in this game. While Davante Adams ($16,200) is the clear cut number one option, Lazard has emerged as the number two for Rodgers. Over the last three games, Lazard made 11 receptions on 20 targets for a total of 128 yards and a touchdown, good for a DKFP average of 10. I really like his matchup against CB Shaquill Griffin, as Lazard will have a fairly good size advantage on him at 6’3” 225 pounds against Griffin at 6’0” 198 pounds. Griffin also allowed a 61% catch rate on 66 targets for an average of 13.3 YPR.

Marshawn Lynch, RB, Seahawks ($6,800)

In terms of game script, this isn’t the best matchup for Lynch with the Seahawks as underdogs. However, coach Pete Carroll has said that Lynch is ready to do more and they’re ready to increase his role. Lynch is coming off the win against the Eagles where he carried the ball six times for seven yards with a touchdown and caught two of his three targets for 25 yards, good for 11.2 DKFP. He draws a much softer matchup against the Packers, who allow an average of 109 rushing yards and 15 total rushing touchdowns, which was tied for the fourth-most in the league. Lynch has quickly amassed a touchdown in both games he’s been active and will likely leapfrog Travis Homer ($6,600) on the depth chart ahead of this game.
