Best lineup strategy for 49ers-Vikings in DraftKings Showdown

We break down the best lineup strategy for Saturday’s 49ers-Vikings Showdown matchup.

The Minnesota Vikings are hitting the road again, and this time they’ll face the San Francisco 49ers in the Divisional Round. Minnesota has a chance to shock the world again while the 49ers look to continue their unexpectedly successful 2019 campaign. Let’s check out some of the best plays for Saturday DraftKings Showdown.

Captain Obvious

Dalvin Cook, RB, Vikings ($16,800)

Cook put together an impressive fantasy performance against the New Orleans Saints in the Wild Card round. He rushed for 94 yards and two scores on 28 carries to amass 28 DKFP. Cook was the the driving force behind Minnesota’s success against a premier run-stopping defense and should get a heavy workload against the 49ers. San Francisco’s persistent pass rush’s effect on Kirk Cousins will also play into how much Cook touches the ball. He should have ample opportunity to have a huge game.

Captain Courageous

Jimmy Garoppolo, QB, 49ers ($15,000)

Garoppolo’s numbers this year were comparable to Cousins’ in 2019, but he has the higher ceiling here. Drew Brees had what was probably his worst complete game of the year last week and still nearly matched Cousins’ fantasy numbers in the Wild Card round. The chances of that happening in back-to-back weeks are slim. Garoppolo’s signature win this year was also on the road against the Saints. He threw for 349 yards and four touchdowns en route to 32.1 DKFP. Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs being listed as questionable this week could also impact Minnesota’s offensive firepower, making Garoppolo a more reasonable choice.

Flex Men

George Kittle, TE, 49ers ($9,800)

Kittle is one of the best tight ends in football and is a likely candidate to receive more targets than any other 49ers pass catcher. He is a threat to break off a big play anywhere on the field. Minnesota forked over 10.4 DKFP to Jared Cook on five targets last week, so Kittle should at least be able to extend his streak of consecutive double-digit DKFP outings to five games.

Raheem Mostert, RB, 49ers ($8,400)

Mostert is riding a hot streak that could very well extend into the playoffs. He has scored eight touchdowns in the last six weeks, tallying double-digits in DKFP in each of those performances. Mostert doesn’t get a ton of carries, but he makes the most of the ones he does get and also contributes as a receiver out of the backfield. His level of productivity without typical feature back usage makes him valuable and worth a play.
