The Buffalo Bills head into the 2020 NFL Playoffs a longshot to get to Super Bowl 54. However, they have two things going for them heading into their opener against the Houston Texans. They have a great defense, they are relatively healthy, and they got some much-needed rest in Week 17.

Only ten Wild Card teams have made it to the Super Bowl since the Wild Card system began in 1970. It doesn’t help matters that Buffalo is in the same conference as the best team in football. If the Bills upset the Texans, their Divisional round opponent would depend on the Titans-Patriots outcome. The Ravens and Chiefs are both tough outs, but if Buffalo could upend one of those two, an AFC title game upset is not exactly so far-fetched.
Super Bowl 54 matchup odds
The Bills have six possible opponents if they get to Super Bowl 54, and the odds mostly descend based on seeding. The one difference is the Saints are viewed much more optimistically than the Packers. Bills-Packers might be the best value among these six possible matchups because of how undervalued Green Bay is right now. The Packers have a first round bye, which offers a significant leg up compared to teams playing in the Wild Card game.
Bills-Seahawks is a super long shot, but might be my favorite of these matchups. Seeing Josh Allen and Russell Wilson squaring off would be a fascinating matchup. Bills vs. the 49ers, Saints, or Packers would all offer intriguing chess matchups between Buffalo’s defense and those prolific offenses.

The six possible opponents brings 12 possible results, and they provide a hint at who would be favored in each game. The Bills look like they would be underdogs in all six matchups, although not by a large margin against Philadelphia, Seattle, and Minnesota. If you want to bet on a Bills upset, wins over Green Bay and San Francisco strike me as the most intriguing. If Buffalo makes the Super Bowl, odds are good they face a team that had a first round bye. You can go with one of the longer shots, but 200-1 or 350-1 is plenty long enough as is.

Quarterbacks get the heaviest odds, so betting on Allen wouldn’t be the worst idea. But if you want to go extra long, Tre’Davious White is intriguing. A big interception could swing the Super Bowl for the Bills, and White is as good a bet as any to get that pick. It’s a long shot, but the Bills getting to the Super Bowl is a longshot, and his odds are only going to get shorter the further the Bills advance.
