Stefon Diggs injury update: How to handle the Vikings receiver vs. Falcons

Diggs is listed as questionable as he deals with a hamstring injury. Here’s what that means for fantasy purposes.

Editor’s update: The Vikings are expected to have wide receiver Stefon Diggs active on Sunday when they host the Atlanta Falcons, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Although he is dealing with a hamstring injury, it would appear the team is not concerned about an aggravation.

The Minnesota Vikings receiver Stefon Diggs suffered a hamstring injury earlier this week that caused him to miss Wednesday’s practice. He is officially listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Falcons.

The good news is that Diggs was able to practice on Thursday and Friday in a limited role. That’s usually a good sign that a player will suit up for that week’s game. His situation is worth keeping an eye on heading into Sunday. Head coach Mike Zimmer was a little cagey when asked about Diggs’ status for the week, telling reporters “we’ll see.” Barring a setback, it would be a surprise to see him inactive.

Diggs broke the 1,000-yard mark for the first time last season (1,021), and posted a career-high in catches with 102. He’s a big part of a Vikings offense that should be explosive this season.

Fantasy impact: It’s just too good of a matchup to leave Diggs on your bench unless you have to. He’s at home against a Falcons secondary that could be overwhelmed by Minnesota’s passing attack. At the very least, Atlanta’s defensive backfield will have to devote a majority of its attention to Adam Thielen, setting up favorable matchups for Diggs.

As with anyone who’s listed as questionable, you should keep an eye on the situation heading into Sunday. Have a backup plan, just in case.
