Editor’s update 6:13 p.m.: Trubisky returned to the Bears sideline, and is wearing a sling.
Editor’s update 4:57 p.m.: The Bears officially ruled out Mitchell Trubisky with his shoulder injury. The game is still in the first quarter, which is notable. Trubisky will likely undergo further examination to determine the length of time he’ll miss. Chase Daniel will remain the starter while Trubisky is sidelined.
The Chicago Bears have a huge Week 4 matchup against the Minnesota Vikings and things got off to a bad start early. Quarterback Mitchell Trubisky suffered a rough injury to his left shoulder on the team’s first drive and has been taken to the locker room. He was sacked for a ten-yard loss and fumbled the ball. As he went down, he appeared to hyperextend his shoulder in an unnatural manner.
Trubisky had completed two of three passes for nine yards when he injured his shoulder. Backup Chase Daniel replaced him and completed his first three passes for 42 yards. Update: Daniel got the Bears on the board with a 10-yard catch and run touchdown by Tarik Cohen. Daniel completed four of five passes for 52 yards and the touchdown on the drive after replacing Trubisky.
Fantasy analysis: Trubisky had regressed after a solid 2018 fantasy season, and things might be getting worse before they get better. We’ll await word on his shoulder, but for the time being it is likely the Chase Daniel show the rest of Week 4 against a tough Vikings defense. Running backs David Montgomery and Tarik Cohen will be plenty busy, and we’ll see if Daniel offers more for the passing game than Trubisky had with any consistency to date.
