The Buffalo Bills are losing a tight one to the New England Patriots in Week 4, but the biggest concern is loss of quarterback Josh Allen to a potential concussion. Allen took a big hit early in the fourth quarter as he scrambled for four yards. Allen dropped to the ground and while he was eventually able to walk off the field, he is being evaluated for a concussion. Jonathan Jones hit him helmet-to-helmet, and while the defender was flagged for unnecessary roughness, it was offset by offensive holding.
Matt Barkley replaced Allen but was unable to build on the opportunity. He had a shot on a goal to go situation, but threw an interception on 4th and goal.
Fantasy impact: Allen struggled with three interceptions, but added 26 rushing yards and a touchdown. He’s one of the best scrambling quarterbacks in the NFL, bringing significant fantasy value. His accuracy is still a big problem, but in recent weeks he has been someone who fantasy owners have had to consider as a realistic starting option.
He will likely enter the concussion protocol, which means he will have to be asymptomatic at rest and after exertion. Until that happens, he cannot be cleared to return to action. Matt Barkley has no fantasy value. Allen holds value as a rusher when they face the Titans next week if you are short-handed.
