How to handle Devin Singletary injury in Week 4 fantasy football

The Bills rookie RB is questionable this week, so should you considering playing him this week?

Editor’s update 8:35 a.m.: Devin Singletary is expected to miss another week due to his hamstring injury, according to NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport. Although he is unlikely to be active against the Patriots, his return to practice on Thursday and Friday suggests he might be available next week when Buffalo travels to Tennessee. The Bills have a bye the week after, so depending on how they perform against New England, it’s possible they could also decide to give him through the bye. In the meantime, Frank Gore would get the start vs. the Patriots, and T.J. Yeldon would be plenty active.

The Buffalo Bills officially listed running back Devin Singletary as questionable on the Friday injury report this week. Nobody on the beat in Buffalo seems to have a clear idea of whether or not Singletary will actually suit up this week, complicating fantasy football decisions.

The rookie didn’t get a ton of work through the first two weeks of the season, but when he did have the ball in his hands he made the most of it. He averaged nearly 13 yards per attempt through those first two games, scoring a touchdown in his second game. Singletary also has managed to catch five passes for marginal yardage. But he’s still dealing with a hamstring injury that he suffered late in the game against the Giants in Week 2.

Fantasy impact: If Singletary does play, he’s unlikely to find much room to work against the Patriots. It’s early in the season, but New England comes into this week’s game boasting the NFL’s best defense across the board. The Bills may also elect to be cautious with Singletary since they have the ageless Frank Gore in the lineup too. Probably best to avoid him this week.
