The biggest wide receiver news in Week 3 occurred a day before the Sunday games even started. The New England Patriots released Antonio Brown and may have finally ended one of the most bizarre rides the fantasy and NFL as ever taken. This simplifies choosing amont the New England pass catchers and immediately opened things up for Julian Edelman and Josh Gordon. In better news, Mike Evans only needed a half of football to have an amazing fantasy day. Julio Jones is still very good. And a few young rising stars like Marquise Brown and DK Metcalf cooled off from their hot starts.
Injuries to Alshon Jeffery and Desean Jackson opened a door for a big day from Nelson Agholor, whom had 2 touchdowns but that wasn’t enough to save him from the ire of a local Philadelphia baby-saving hero who called him on out national television. Jackson figures to miss one more week at least, but we’ll need to monitor Jeffery’s progress. The San Francisco 49ers and New York Jets are on bye. Neither teams boasts a game-changing wide receiver, but Jamison Crowder, Deebo Samuels, and Marquise Goodwin were all delivering decent games in the first 3 weeks.
There’s an interesting trend to note heading into Week 4 among the two offensive juggernauts from last season, the Kansas City Chiefs and The Los Angeles Rams. While the Chiefs lost their top receiver they haven’t missed a step. Patrick Mahomes has made daily fantasy stars out of Sammy Watkins and Demarcus Robinson. The Los Angeles Rams however have yet to really find the gear they were at in 2018. Cooper Kupp has been the most consistent of the bunch with Brandin Cooks coming on last week, but Robert Woods had a mostly mediocre day. Hopefully, Jared Goff and the Rams can get back to their high scoring ways against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers win Week 4.
