James White will not play in Week 3 to be at birth of his child

Patriots running back James White will be with his wife as she delivers on Sunday. Best wishes to the family!

The New England Patriots will be without running back James White in Week 3 as they square off against the New York Jets. White’s wife is pregnant and is due to give birth on Sunday, and like Kyle Van Noy in Week 1, White will skip the game to be with his wife.

Fantasy impact: White has gotten off to a decent start as a PPR back, but nothing spectacular. In Week 1, he had five receptions on seven targets for 56 yards and four rushes for 26 yards. In Week 2, he had three receptions on four targets for 19 yards and a touchdown, and also rushed three times for ten yards. He has some value in standard leagues, but his real value is in PPR leagues.

His absence opens the door for more work in the passing game for Rex Burkhead. Add in the departure of Antonio Brown, and there will be quite a few targets to go around to Patriots pass catchers in Week 3.
