Editor’s update 8:50 a.m.: Jeffery is unlikely to play, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Jeffery sat out all three practices this week and it would appear has not shown enough in rehab to get him on the field. The Eagles face the Lions at 1 p.m. ET, so we’ll know by 11:30 a.m. if he’s going to play.
The Philadelphia Eagles enter their Week 3 matchup with the Detroit Lions extremely short-handed at wide receiver. DeSean Jackson was ruled out with an abdomen injury, and Alshon Jeffery has an uphill climb to play on Sunday.
Jeffery sat out all three practice sessions this week and is listed as questionable for the game. Eagles beat writer Eliot Shorr-Parks tweeted on Friday that he thinks there is a good chance Jeffery plays, along with Dallas Goedert who is questionable with his own calf injury.
Fantasy impact: It appears like Jeffery will be a game-time decision, so we’ll be waiting for inactives to be announced at 11:30 a.m. If he does play, the absence of Jackson opens up a lot of targets. If Jeffery does not play, Nelson Agholor becomes the hot target after Zach Ertz. Rookie J.J. Arecega-Whiteside becomes an intriguing option to monitor given the additional work available. He’s not worth rostering quite yet in re-draft leagues unless you’ve got an open bench spot. If you’re in a keeper league, he might be worth a stash in case of a breakout performance before Jackson returns.
