How to handle Jimmy Graham injury in Week 3 fantasy football

Packers tight end Jimmy Graham is off to a relatively quiet start, and a groin injury could slow him down further. We break down the fantasy implications heading into Week 3.

Green Bay Packers tight end Jimmy Graham has dealt with an assortment of injuries as he has aged in his career, and we can add a groin injury to the mix. Graham sat out Week 3 practice on Wednesday and Thursday, and then was a limited participant on Friday. He is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Denver Broncos.

The Packers promoted Evan Baylis from the practice squad on Thursday. At the time, Packers beat writer Rob Demovsky suggested Graham might miss Sunday’s game. However, on Friday, head coach Matt LaFleur said Graham looked good in the final practice and Demovsky thinks that barring a setback, the tight end will be available on Sunday.

Fantasy impact: Groin injuries are tricky given the potential for aggravation. We very well could see Graham on a limited snap count if the team is concerned about that. Raiders tight end Darren Waller had seven receptions for 70 yards against Denver in Week 1, while Bears tight end Adam Shaheen was limited to 24 yards on three receptions in Week 2. Graham had three receptions for 30 yards and a touchdown, but was shut out on one target in Week 2. Rodgers is not looking his way, and right now it’s hard to justify starting him outside of touchdown-specific leagues.
