Start or sit Jameis Winston in Week 3?

This might be one of those rare weeks where we see “good” Jameis Winston.

So far this season, we’ve seen bad Jameis Winston and just OK Jameis Winston. So which version will appear this week?

We might finally see the good version, thanks in part to the fact that the Buccaneers play a terrible Giants team this week. A struggling quarterback couldn’t ask for a better opponent, except for maybe the Dolphins. In two games, Big Blue has already been outscored by a total of 32 points, allowing an average of 321 passing yards.

Winston had two touchdowns and 199 yards against the Giants last season, so he could be especially productive this week.

He’s always been an up or down player. Last year, he started the season with a dreadful effort that failed to net more than 8.5 points in any of the most popular fantasy formats. He followed that with a 30-point plus performance a week later.

Fantasy impact: Winston is probably never going to be the franchise quarterback the Bucs envisioned when they took him with the first overall pick in 2015. He’s never going to be a reliable week-to-week fantasy starter either. But he’s good enough to play the matchups —especially one like the Giants — whether you need a streaming option to cover for an injured play, or if you’re looking for a decent middle-tier DFS option at $6,300.
