Complete Week 3 NFL injury report for fantasy football

Fallout from the injured quarterback zone, busted up tight ends, and more concerns on this week’s injury report.

It’s been a rough season for quarterbacks, and we’re only three weeks into it. A couple of the biggest names aren’t even on the injury report because they got benched (Eli Manning) or are out for the season (Ben Roethelisberger). Of course, only one of those guys carried any weight in fantasy leagues (unless it’s your father-in-law, who still, somehow, seems to think Manning is a solid start every week).

Cam Newton and Drew Brees being on the shelf does change the fantasy landscape. Newton’s been a source of frustration this season for a lot of reasons. He’s not putting up good numbers (zero touchdowns, rushing or passing), and his erratic throws are limiting production for his receivers. Who knows what Kyle Allen can do starting under center for Carolina, but his presence can’t be any worse for guys like D.J. Moore and Curtis Samuel than Newton, especially against the miserable Cardinals.

Brees is expected to be out for roughly six weeks. Teddy Bridgewater is expected to start instead, but that might not last long since he’s, you know, not very good. Taysom Hill could go from being an offensive Swiss Army Knife to the starting QB real quick. All of this should make running back Alvin Kamara even more valuable than he already was.

In other injury news of note, Ravens tight end Mark Andrew will play, despite being listed as questionable. Look for the ageless Frank Gore to get even more work in the Bills offense this week with Devin Singletary on the shelf. The Browns took a big hit with tight end David Njoku, who was placed in injured reserve with a broken wrist on Friday.
