Worst quarterback plays in Week 3 DFS

Don’t let the low salaries trick you. Carson Wentz and Kirk Cousins are not your friends this weekend

With so many quarterbacks poised to smash in Week 3, it is more imperative than ever to avoid using one that posts a lemon. There are some QBs this week that look like great plays because of value, but are traps just waiting to spring. Here are the quarterbacks to avoid in DFS this week:

Jimmy Garoppolo, San Francisco 49ers vs. Pittsburgh Steelers, $6,100

Jimmy G isn’t really a bad play — it’s hard to imagine him having a “bad” game — but something tells me the Steelers are going to rally this week in the absence of Big Ben and make this a tougher slog than expected. Remember, the Steelers now have Minkah Fitzpatrick in the secondary, which is an enormous upgrade. This might be a little tougher for Garoppolo than anyone anticipates.

Carson Wentz, Philadelphia Eagles vs. Detroit Lions, $5,600

Wentz might be feeling spry and chipper this week despite getting bopped in the ribs last week, but the reality is, he has no one other than Nelson Agholor and Zach Ertz to throw to. The Lions aren’t the Steel Curtain, but they can make enough trouble for a second-string receivers corps to ruin Wentz’ day. Don’t let them ruin your day, too.

Kirk Cousins, Minnesota Vikings vs. Oakland Raiders, $5,100

That salary is super-tempting for a guy facing a pass defense that just got shredded by Patrick Mahomes last week. But, c’mon, this isn’t the second coming of Mahomes. Cousins had 31 pass attempts in two games. 31! And if the Vikings bust out to a big early lead, it’s the Dalvin Cook Show. It’s all about opportunity, and Cousins just doesn’t get enough to make his bargain-basement salary worth the effort.
