Best value defenses of Week 3 DFS are Cowboys, Packers

It’s a new week of DFS, and it’s time to locate the value in this week’s defensive matchups. A few surprises in this list might give you the edge as you ponder what direction to go on Sunday. Here are three defenses you might want to take a look at before you submit your DFS lineup on Sunday morning.

Cowboys (vs. Miami) $4,300

Generally a common DFS strategy is to stay away from high-priced defenses, but here’s the exception. Dallas is the most expensive defense in the game this week, and when the Cowboys have the Miami Dolphins on the slate, it’s well worth the price because they are that bad. We have never seen anything like this Miami team, which appeared to quit during Week 1 of the NFL season. The constant trades and turmoil in that locker room makes for a consistent fade throughout the season. To top it all off, Josh Rosen is making his first start as the Dolphins quarterback as the tanking continues in Miami.

Packers (vs. Denver) $3,400

An underrated narrative early in this NFL season has been how vastly improved the Packers defense is. Through two games, Green Bay allowed just 19 points. It’s not like the Packers went against the best offenses in the league with the Bears and Vikings, but the Broncos struggle on offense too. The Joe Flacco era in Denver is off to a rocky start, and the Packers should be able to take advantage of the lack of an explosive offense and hopefully capitalize on a few turnovers.

Giants (@ Tampa Bay) $3,000

It’s a new era in New York, and making this move can really provide a boost into a team on both sides of the ball. Eli Manning is out, and Daniel Jones is in. With the amount of criticism Jones received after the Giants took him in the first round, the coaching staff and players will rally around Jones to get him a victory in game one. Motivation is key in selecting defenses, and the Giants will be ready to go on Sunday. Plus, Jameis Winston tends to give teams a few opportunities for interceptions.
