Betting against Doug Marrone and Gardner Minshew in Week 3 TNF

Bet on the better coach and better quarterback in Week 3 Thursday Night Football.

The Jacksonville Jaguars host the Tennessee Titans on Thursday Night Football to kick off Week 3, and it does not bode well as an entertainment option. That being said, we can always gamble on it and that is guaranteed to make it more entertaining. It might end poorly based on our decisions, but at least it gives it a little more rooting interest.

The Titans are a 1.5-point road favorite, and the point total is 38.5 at the DraftKings Sportsbook. Tennessee is coming off a tough 19-17 loss to the Indianapolis Colts, while Jacksonville lost 13-12 to the Houston Texans. The AFC South is looking wide open following Andrew Luck’s unexpected retirement, and Week 3 TNF offers a chance for a key divisional win.

The Jaguars are dealing with A.J. Bouye’s questionable status, but otherwise both teams are relatively healthy. The biggest question coming into this game is Jalen Ramsey’s trade request. There are rumors he could be dealt as soon as Friday, but it would appear he will be playing on Thursday. He has tried to push the distraction to the side in talking with the media, but there’s no way this is not at least a little bit of a distraction.

This should be a relatively low-scoring affair, so the under is a comfortable wager. I enjoy home underdogs, but if I were betting on this I would lay the points with Tennessee. Gardner Minshew is looking like a decent quarterback, but he faces a tough matchup in the Titans defense. Add in Doug Marrone being a less than stellar head coach, and the Jaguars are playing at a bit of a disadvantage.
