D.J. Chark do do do do do do do D.J. Chark do do do, no? Not a fan? Okay, okay, I’ll get to fantasy analysis then ... It was unclear heading into the season who would emerge among the Jagurs’ wide receiving group. Many pegged Dede Westbrook as the obvious option for Nick Foles at the time. Now with Foles out and Gardner Minshew II in at QB, D.J. Chark has proven to be the No. 1 option in Jacksonville’s passing game early in the season. The second-year wideout has caught an impressive 11-of-13 targets for 201 yards and two TDs in two games. He’s currently top 10 in receiving and top 20 in yards per catch (18.3), coming off 18.5 fantasy points vs. the Texans in full-point PPR formats.
Fantasy Impact: The Titans’ defense has been solid so far this season, specifically in limiting top WRs; TY Hilton had just four receptions, 43 yards and a TD last week, while Odell Beckham Jr. had seven catches for 71 yards in the opener. If you view Westbrook as the No. 1 guy for the Jags, this may bode well for Chark. If Chark is the guy Tennessee looks to limit, his ceiling could be low. He is projected to see a lot of CB Adoree’ Jackson, which is a decent matchup, plus we know Minshew will look Chark’s way after nine targets vs. the Texans. But it’s still hard to view Chark as more than a FLEX option in Week 3. If you’re in a deeper league, there are worse plays. If you’re in a 10- or 12-team format, Chark is probably on your bench this week.
