We all know what happened the last time Derrick Henry faced the Jaguars on Thursday Night Football, but for now let’s focus on what the Titans’ lead back has done so far this season. And that’s eat.
Through his first two games of 2019, Henry has shown he is the focus of Tennessee’s offensive attack, racking up 165 yards on 34 attempts (4.9 YPC) with two rushing TDs, while also adding three receptions on five targets for 87 yards and a TD. At 23.1 fantasy points per game in PPR formats, Henry is proving to be a solid mid-round RB1 with massive upside given his expected workload game-to-game.
Fantasy Impact: Now, let’s talk about Dec. 6, 2018. Henry runs his way into the record books, tying the longest TD run of 99 yards while also setting a Titans franchise record with 238 yards on 16 carries. He also finished with four TDs, tying Earl Campbell’s franchise record for a single game. Of course, we can’t expect another otherworldly performance like that from Henry, but the way the Jags are trending, it wouldn’t surprise me if the former ‘Bama back goes off again. At this point, Henry is locked into one of your two RB spots in almost all formats. Don’t get cute. He’s probably the only mortal lock for any lineup out of all the players on the Titans and Jags playing Thursday night.
