The 3 best values at running back for Week 3 DFS

A mix of stars and sleepers make up the best value plays this week.

The NFL regular season is under way, and with the NFL season comes the season for daily fantasy football lineups. If you’re a daily fantasy player, you know that a successful lineup has to have a solid combination of big-name star power players that are known commodities with a few high-upside players that provide a little more bang for your buck.

Obviously, you would love to fill your daily lineup with Pro Bowlers from top to bottom, but spending money on a top-tier player in one spot, leaves you potentially scraping the barrel to fill out the rest of your roster.

Put your knowledge to the test. Sign up for DraftKings and experience the game inside the game.

So here are three running backs that could provide the best value for Week 3. (Values from DraftKings.)

Ezekiel Elliott (DAL) - $8,900

Naming Elliott as a “best value” play might sound strange here, especially considering he’s the second-most expensive running back available this week. But then you look at the team on the other side and you see the Miami Dolphins and you understand. The game script here likely has the Cowboys getting out to an early lead, so look for Dallas to finally give Zeke a full workload of touches.

Devonta Freeman (ATL) - $4,900

Freeman hasn’t exactly shined so far through the season’s first two games, but he has a shot to breakout in Week 3 against the Indianapolis Colts, ranked 31st in the NFL defending the run through two games. Take advantage of Freeman’s prior poor performance which has made him a whopping $4,200 cheaper than the most expensive running back in Week 3. He likely won’t come as cheap next week.

Joe Mixon (CIN) - $5,500

This is another value play based off matchup. The Bengals are facing the Buffalo Bills in Week 3, a team ranked 25th in defending the run so far in 2019. The Bengals have shown they’re willing to lean on Mixon in the run and passing game despite the presence of Giovani Bernard, so start Mixon with confidence in your daily lineups in Week 3.
