Once again Washington will not have tight end Jordan Reed on the field. He is still dealing with a concussion, and will sit out for the second week in a row.
Reed has not played in a regular season game since Week 14 last season. A toe injury landed him on injured reserve in 2018. This year, he’s been dealing with a concussion since the third week of the preseason when he left that game against the Falcons. This is the seventh concussion of his career.
Without Reed, Washington is hard up for skill players, though the team did manage to score 27 points in a Week 1 loss to the Eagles. Vernon Davis got the start at tight end in that game, and he managed to put up 59 yards on four catches as well as a first-quarter touchdown that got the scoring started.
Washington has a Monday night game against the Bears in Week 3. Keep an eye on the news to see if Reed is cleared to play by then. If he is, he can be a decent pickup for your fantasy team.
Fantasy Impact: No Reed means that Davis will again get the start this week against the Dallas Cowboys. Chances are he’s sitting on the waiver wire in your league, and isn’t a bad get if you need some fill-in help this week. He’s fetching a bargain basement price ($3,200) in DraftKings leagues this week, actually costing less than Reed. Davis had 73 yards and a touchdown in a Week 12 loss to the Cowboys last season.
