DFS Showdown lineup advice for Week 2 Falcons-Eagles

The Eagles travel to Atlanta for the Week 2 Sunday night game. The Eagles are coming off a stirring Week 1 win over Washington, while the Falcons look to rebound off a rough opener against the Vikings. Let’s look at some players to target in DraftKings six-man Showdown slate and who to use in the critical Captain slot:

CAPTAIN OBVIOUS

Julio Jones ($17,100): If you played Julio last week, you got somewhat saved by his garbage-time touchdown, but things are looking a lot brighter in this one, as the Philadelphia secondary got toasted by the likes of rookie Terry McLaurin. Jones is the best player on the field in this game and the Falcons can’t help but play better at home after that horror show in Minneapolis last week.

CAPTAIN COURAGEOUS

Austin Hooper ($6,900): Jones had the most targets (11) from Matt Ryan last week, but Hooper was pretty close behind with nine. The tight end caught them all for 77 yards to outscore Jones in DK points 16.7-15.1. The Eagles have always been atrocious at stopping tight ends, and at that generously-low Captain salary, Hooper is an ideal play to allow fitting in all the QB-WR stars in the flex spots.

FLEX MEN

Darren Sproles ($3,600): Old man Darren just keeps on getting it done, and there’s no reason to think the Eagles are going to lessen his workload in Week 2 after carrying the ball nine times and catching all three of his targets for an 11.3 DK total. He is arguably the best non-kicker value play on the board who could break the slate if he found the end zone.

Justin Hardy ($1,400), Dallas Goedert ($800): As mentioned above, if you’re going to try to fit both quarterbacks and both No. 1 wide receivers into a lineup, you need some extreme value plays. One is someone like Hooper in the Captain. The other is dipping down to super-cheap guys like Hardy and Goedert, who have roles in their offenses and really only need one or two decent plays to make value. Goedert is my personal favorite, as his Showdown salary got cut in half after Week 1, but he still the upside to make an impact. He played on 55 percent of last week’s snaps, so he’s always a threat for targets.
