Breaking down the top 50 running backs in standard fantasy leagues

The big names stepped up at running back in Week 1 of the 2019 season. We make some modest adjustments in our Week 2 standard fantasy football rankings.

The standard running back rankings generally don’t change the status of too many players, but we did have a handful of plays it effected. I thought Ezekiel Elliott deserved the nod in standard over Alvin Kamara, who I have at No. 2 in PPR rankings. Mark Ingram also made a small jump into the top-five, since he should be in charge of killing the clock as 13-point favorites hosting the Cardinals.

Two players that should be in really strong situations all season in standard are Dalvin Cook and Chris Carson. They also happen to be spectacular plays in PPR, but Minnesota and Seattle appear to be the two teams the most focused on building offense around the run-game.

There were some names farther down the board that take the biggest hits, mostly as the pass-catching specialists. James White, Devin Singletary and Chris Thompson fit that mold, and slide significantly. Tarik Cohen also dropped, as he played almost exclusively as a slot-WR in Week 1.
