Week 1 of the NFL season was a showcase for the league’s speedsters. Desean Jackson, Marquise Brown, John Ross and Sammy Watkins all posted multiple touchdown games to open the season. Though it was a tough season debut for top 10 options like Mike Evans (flu) and Juju Smith-Schuster. We also got respectable efforts from DeAndre Hopkins, Keenan Allen and Michael Thomas.
Injury-wise, the first big loss was Tyreek Hill who could be out multiple weeks, but reports came out today that he should avoid IR with a chest injury. Otherwise, Mike Williams had to exit early due to a knee injury and A.J. Green looks likely to miss another week.
With Green’s continued absence I like the other receiving options in Cincinnati this week as they host the San Francisco 49ers. Jameis Winston couldn’t get much going against the 49er defense, but Andy Dalton is a more consistent quarterback and with the 49ers playing their second game on the other side of the country in back-to-back weeks you could see how Tyler Boyd and John Ross could perform well in week 2. Digging down a little further, John Brown could deliver a repeat performance against the New York Giants defense that was torched last week. Of course, tying your destiny to the erratic quarterback, Josh Allen, requires much pondering.
