What is Kerryon Johnson’s fantasy football status?

Kerryon Johnson did not play in Week 8 with a knee injury and was placed on the injured reserve, essentially ending his fantasy season in 2019. Detroit Lions head coach Matt Patricia is optimistic Johnson will return later in the season, but his earliest return date would be Week 16. It’s difficult to see much value in traditional or daily fantasy leagues even if he gets back.

In his absence, Tra Carson carried the ball 12 times for 34 yards on Sunday against the New York Giants, while Ty Johnson rushed for 25 yards on seven carries.

What is Kerryon Johnson’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 8?

Kerryon Johnson left Sunday’s game in the first quarter with a knee injury against the Minnesota Vikings. He finished with five carries for 23 yards before exiting.

Johnson has a $5,700 price tag for Week 8 against the New York Giants, but it sounds unlikely he will be playing next week. Adam Schefter reported the injury will be monitored week to week and is expected to miss some time. Check the injury reports as we get closer to Sunday in what would be a favorable matchup for the second-year back.

What is Kerryon Johnson’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 7?

Kerryon Johnson saw a significantly decreased workload during a loss on Monday Night Football against the Packers. A week after receiving 28 touches, Johnson rushed 13 times for 34 yards and salvaged the day with a goal line touchdown. He caught two passes for 27 yards.

It makes sense the Lions might want to lighten the workload on its young back, but he is still the go-to guy in Detroit. He is priced at $5,100, which is tied for 26th among running backs with Latavius Murray. This is still incredible value for Johnson going up against Minnesota in Week 7.

What is Kerryon Johnson’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 6?

Kerryon Johnson certainly will be well rested as the Lions return from a bye week to go up against Green Bay on Monday Night Football in Week 6. The Packers have had a leaky run defense so far in 2019, and they were fortunate on Sunday as they were able to get ahead on Dallas, which had to switch to more of a pass-heavy approach. With Johnson’s volume in the Lions’ offense, he is a solid start in traditional fantasy with value in daily. We’ll have his salary once MNF Showdown prices are available.

What is Kerryon Johnson’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 5?

After weeks of waiting, we finally saw Kerryon Johnson break out in Week 4. He rushed for 125 yards and added 32 receiving yards in the Lions 34-30 loss to the Chiefs. The Lions hung close in this one, thus avoiding the game script removing Johnson from regular touches. He was a workhorse back with 26 carries, and the Lions performance suggests they’re for real.

Detroit heads into a bye in Week 5. They travel to face the Packers on Monday Night Football after their week off.

What is Kerryon Johnson’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 4?

It was a struggle for Kerryon Johnson during a win against the Eagles on Sunday, and it was not due to lack of opportunities. He had 20 carries and was able to gain just 36 yards but did find he end zone to salvage the day. The most exciting news for fantasy owners is he played a lot on third downs and received goal line work.

Johnson heads into a Week 4 matchup with a game against the Kansas City Chiefs. This should feature quite a few points, and Johnson should get plenty of work. This team seems to trust Johnson to play all three downs and with that type of volume, he could be a value play this weekend as the 22nd most expensive running back with a $5,400 price.

What is Kerryon Johnson’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 3?

The Lions stunned the Chargers in Week 1, in spite of an up-and-down performance in the backfield. Johnson led the Lions’ backfield with 12 carries, but only managed 41 rushing yards. He added two receptions for 47 yards and a touchdown to finished with 16.8 DKFP.

The Lions continue using a mix of talent in the backfield and that limits Johnson’s ceiling for the foreseeable future. Detroit travels to face the Eagles in Week 3, and Johnson faces a tough run defense that held the Falcons to 57 rushing yards in Week 2. His price dropped $200 to $5,600.

What is Kerryon Johnson’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 2?

The Lions-Cardinals Week 1 contest was not remotely pretty. The Lions jumped out to a lead they could have potentially run out with their ground game, and they had little success en route to a tie. Kerryon Johnson rushed 16 times for 49 yards and added two receptions for 13 yards.

Expectations for Johnson were high coming into the season, and fantasy owners likely are hoping for a solid rebound in Week 2. The Lions host the Los Angeles Chargers, and Johnson’s price has dropped $100 to $5,700. Marlon Mack ran over the Chargers in Week 1, rushing 25 times for 174 yards and a touchdown. The Lions will likely look to control the ball, so there could be some value to be had in Johnson.

Kerryon Johnson’s 2019 fantasy football preview

Kerryon Johnson had a solid rookie season and proved to be a good pass-catching threat out of the backfield. Johnson looks to be an especially big part of the Lions’ offense with Theo Riddick’s release.

Johnson averaged 5.4 yards per carry his rookie season in Detroit last year with 641 yards and three touchdowns. He also added 32 receptions for 213 yards with an additional receiving touchdown.

Without Riddick, Johnson is the man and will be backed up by C.J. Anderson and Ty Johnson, both of whom do not appear to be major threats for significant playing time. Johnson has the potential to put together a special season for fantasy owners.

What is Kerryon Johnson’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 1?

Kerryon Johnson finds himself with a price tag of $5,800 heading into Week 1. Johnson will be a major part of this offense and could turn into a consistent fantasy player. It seems clear the Lions trust in the passing game as well. We will learn a lot about how Johnson will be used come week 1 when he faces an Arizona defense that struggled to limit running backs in 2018.
