Someone has to take over for OBJ in the New York Giants’ offense, so why not Sterling Shepard? We’re tracking his fantasy performances and news updates throughout the season.

What is Sterling Shepard’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 14?

Shepard’s Week 14 DFS is $5,100, up $200 from last week after catching three passes for 40 yards against the Green Bay Packers. The Green Bay Packers boasted the NFL’s 13th-best defense against opposing wide receivers and the game in Lambeau was played in the snow. It wasn’t the best set of circumstances for Shepard owners, despite the fact the G-Men were missing both Evan Engram and Golden Tate.

The Giants and Shepard have a better matchup, facing off this week against the division rival Philadelphia Eagles and the NFL’s third-worst defense against opposing wide receivers. Even if Tate and/or Engram are able to return to the lineup for the Giants, Shepard should still have a better week this week.

What is Sterling Shepard’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 13?

Shepard’s Week 13 DFS salary remains only $4,900, it’s season low. The more important news for Shepard and the New York Giants is that Shepard is finally out of concussion protocol.

The G-Men don’t have an incredibly favorable matchup on paper this week, hosting the Green Bay Packers and the 17th-ranked defense against opposing wide receivers. It could a high-scoring game for both offenses this week, but it will be interesting to see if he’s playing on some sort of pitch count in his first game in a month and a half.

What is Sterling Shepard’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 12?

Shepard’s Week 12 DFS salary ties its lowest amount of 2019 of only $4,900. This is in no small part due to the fact that Shepard has missed the last month due to a concussion. There’s no guarantee Shepard is ready to go this week even coming out of a bye, so it will be important to monitor his practice status all week.

Even if Shepard is able to suit up for the New York Giants, he has no small task in front of him as the Giants travel to the Windy City to face the Chicago Bears. While the Bears have been a mess in almost every facet of football, their pass defense has been consistently solid all year, ranking third-best in the NFL through the season’s first eleven games.

What is Sterling Shepard’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 11?

Shepard missed another week due to lingering symptoms from a concussion last week, and he has the benefit of an extra week of recovery as the New York Giants have a Week 11 bye.

Stay tuned for Shepard’s practice designation coming out of the Bye week when the G-Men prepare for the tough Chicago Bears defense.

What is Sterling Shepard’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 10?

Shepard has been unable to shake symptoms from his concussion and was forced to re-enter concussion protocol last week. Shepard has missed almost a month for the Giants so far this season, so it’s no surprise that his Week 10 DFS salary is only $5,000, $400 cheaper than it was two weeks ago.

If injury concerns are what is dropping Shepard’s price, the reason Shepard is still above the $4,900 mark is because of the matchup. It’s a battle of New York[/Jersey] this week as the New York Jets are hosting the New York Giants, and we just saw the Jets give up 288 yards and 3 touchdowns to Ryan Fitzpatrick and the Miami Dolphins. The Jets are currently ranked 5th-worst against opposing wide receivers, so if Shepard plays - and that’s a big “if” - then he could have a big game on Sunday.

What is Sterling Shepard’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 9?

Shepard missed another week due to lingering symptoms from a concussion, but with the Giants the beneficiary of a longer week, it’s possible Shepard sees the field for the first time in a month.

Shepard and the G-Men are on Monday Night Football in Week 9 hosting the Dallas Cowboys. This means it is a Showdown contest and prices will be available later in the week.

What is Sterling Shepard’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 8?

Shepard’s Week 8 salary continues to drop, this time falling another $300 to $5,400 for Week 8. While Shepard had an early advantage in the New York Giants offense with Golden Tate serving a suspension, it has now been Tate’s turn to shine while Shepard has missed the past two weeks with a concussion.

Hopefully for Shepard and the Giants he is able to clear concussion protocol and be ready to go in Week 8, and he’s got a favorable matchup against the Detroit Lions. The Lions are a week removed from giving up 337 passing yards to Kirk Cousins, so this could very well be a bounce-back game for Daniel Jones and the passing attack of the G-Men.

What is Sterling Shepard’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 7?

Shepard’s Week 7 salary has dropped another $200 from last week, due in large part to Shepard missing last week’s game for the New York Giants with his second concussion of the season.

You’ll need to stay tuned for Shepard’s practice status this week, but it’s typical for concussions to keep players sidelined for only a single week. All signs seem to indicate Shepard would return Week 7 for a home contest against the Arizona Cardinals. The Cardinals are currently the 20th best team against opposing wide receivers in 2019 so far, but that ranking will likely improve as the Cardinals will be welcoming the return of Patrick Peterson in the secondary, one of the best corners in the game back from suspension.

What is Sterling Shepard’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 6?

Shepard’s Week 6 salary has taken a $100 bump to $5,900 DraftKings from the week before, despite only logging 42 receiving yards against the Minnesota Vikings. What was positive for Shepard was more than just the 42 receiving yards, but rather the 10 targets, 4 more than the next wide receiver, teammate Golden Tate. Unfortunately for Shepard, he is back in the concussion protocol for already the second time in 2019.

In Week 6, the New York Giants are set to take on the New England Patriots, who have been one of the league’s best through the season’s first five weeks. For better or worse, though, it’s doubtful Shepard is able to suit up for Week 6.

What is Sterling Shepard’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 5?

Shepard’s Week 5 salary is holding firm at $5,800 at DraftKings, off the heels of another seven-catch performance, this time going for only 76 yards. While Shepard didn’t score a touchdown in Week 4, he did another 23 yards on the ground. In Shepard’s lone game with Eli Manning in 2019, Shepard finished the game with only 42 receiving yards. Now comes Daniel Jones, and Shepard has seen his average receiving yards go up to 83 yards in the past two weeks.

In Week 5, Shepard has a tough matchup against Xavier Rhodes and the Minnesota Vikings. While Shepard seemingly emerging as Jones’s prime wide receiving target, the biggest question mark for Shepard right now is the return of Golden Tate from suspension. With Tate, Shepard, and tight end Evan Engram, there will be a lot of mouths to feed for young Daniel Jones, and it is to-be-determined on how he’s able to spread the ball around.

What is Sterling Shepard’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 4?

Shepard’s Week 4 salary has increased to $5,800 at DraftKings, a significant ($900) increase from Week 3 on the heels of seven receptions for 100 yards and a touchdown. The return of Golden Tate from suspension is on the horizon, but look for Shepard to be rookie quarterback Daniel Jones’s primary catching threat as a wide receiver. The Giants have a favorable matchup this week, facing a Washington defense that is currently dead last defending the pass. With Saquon Barkley slated to miss multiple games with a high ankle sprain, Shepard could be leaned on even more.

What is Sterling Shepard’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 3?

Shepard enters Week 3 with a $4,900 salary at DraftKings, a $200 decrease from Week 2, likely due in large part to Shepard missing last week’s game due to a concussion. There is no reason to think Shepard will be forced to miss another week, but obviously stay tuned for updates on the injury front. Assuming Shepard is ready to go Week 3 against the Buccaneers, he gets a new quarterback with Daniel Jones replacing Eli Manning in the starting lineup. Expect Jones to lean on his veterans early and often.

What is Sterling Shepard’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 2?

Shepard enters Week 2 with a $5,100 salary at DraftKings, a modest $100 bump from Week 1. He caught six passes for 42 yards against Dallas, finishing third with seven targets. He has a far more favorable match up this week against a Buffalo Bills secondary that allowed Jamison Crowder to catch 14 balls for 99 yards. Shepard plays a similar style as Crowder, so Shepard’s less-than-stellar week against the Cowboys in Week 1 should be a thing of the past by the time Week 2 is in the books.

Sterling Shepard 2019 fantasy football preview

The New York Giants offense will live and die on the legs of Saquon Barkley for the foreseeable future, but Eli Manning (or whoever is quarterbacking the Giants by season’s end) will need to keep opposing defenses honest to avoid them selling out to defend the run. After the Giants shocked the football world by trading Odell Beckham Jr. to the Cleveland Browns, who will step up in the passing game? Enter Sterling Shepard.

Shepard’s path to becoming the No. 1 wide receiver for the G-Men would be a lot easier if it wasn’t for the team’s offseason acquisition of Golden Tate back in March on a four-year deal. However, while Tate and Shepard offer similar skill sets in the Giants’ offense, Shepard might have the upper hand: Shepard is five years younger than Tate, is already familiar with Eli and the New York playbook, and Tate is set to serve a four-game suspension to start 2019 for violating the league’s performance-enhancing substance policy.

While Barkley is no slouch as a pass-catching back out of the backfield and Evan Engram could eventually prove to be one of the league’s best receiving tight ends, it looks like Shepard could be Eli’s go-to option at wide receiver, at least for the season’s first four weeks.

What is Sterling Shepard’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 1?

Shepard enters Week 1 with a $5,000 salary at DraftKings. He ranks tied for 25th among all wide receivers, a whopping $3,100 cheaper than the most expensive wide receiver available in Week 1. He faces a Dallas Cowboys secondary that allowed the sixth-fewest average fantasy points per game to opposing wide receivers, so it could be tough sledding out of the game Shepard and the New York Giants’ passing attack. But with no real competition for the lion’s share of targets at wide receiver, Shepard will look to solidify his role in the offense before Golden Tate has a chance to prove otherwise.
