Dede Westbrook fantasy football updates for Week 10

A new quarterback in Nick Foles has Jaguars pass-catchers such as Dede Westbrook expected to finally break out in 2019. We’re tracking his fantasy performances and news updates throughout the season.

What is Dede Westbrook’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 10?

Westbrook was inactive with neck and shoulder issues. The team is on a bye in Week 10.

What is Dede Westbrook’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 9?

Westbrook had a rough day in Week 8, aggravating his neck/shoulder injury in the first half. He was targeted once and fumbled a ball before leaving with the injury. He did not return after halftime and finished with a goose egg in the box score.

The Jaguars travel to London to face the Texans in Week 9. Westbrook’s status is uncertain for the 9:30 a.m. kickoff.

What is Dede Westbrook’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 8?

D.J. Chark has emerged as the Jaguars No. 1 receiver, but Westbrook is not going to stand idly by. In Week 7, he caught six of nine targets for 103 yards, and with 14 yards on two rushes he finished the game with 20.7 DKFP. Chark ended up third on the team in receiving with three receptions for 53 yards, falling behind Westbrook and Chris Conley (three for 83).

The Jaguars host the Jets in Week 8, and Westbrook’s salary declined $400 to $4,500. The Jets secondary has been middle of the pack giving up fantasy points to wide receivers. Chark has been the most consistent of the Jaguars receivers and has the highest floor. That being said, the value is there for Westbrook in Week 8 if you want to invest more elsewhere.

What is Dede Westbrook’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 7?

It’s been rough sledding Dede Westbrook this season. He showed some signs of life improving in Weeks 4 and 5, but then took a step back, finishing Week 6 with three receptions for 53 yards and 8.3 DKFP. It’s certainly not a bad performance, but it’s not going to wow in DFS.

Things could improve in Week 7 when the Jaguars travel to face the Cincinnati Bengals. Westbrook’s price drops $200 to $4,900, and this might be a week where he breaks out. The Bengals are sufficiently brutal that if you want to roll the dice, Westbrook could be worth a look.

What is Dede Westbrook’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 6?

DeDe Westbrook got off to a slow start, but is starting to heat up. In Week 5, Gardner Minshew targeted Westbrook 11 times, and the receiver finished the game with seven receptions for 82 yards. It was good for 15.2 DKFP, and marks his third straight game with double digit points.

Westbrook and the Jaguars host the New Orleans Saints in Week 6. His price dropped $200 to $5,100 for what could be an intriguing matchup. The Saints have given up the sixth most fantasy points to wide receivers, and are coming off a game in which Chris Godwin secured seven receptions for 125 yards and two touchdowns. It’s an intriguing matchup for the Jaguars wide receivers, although D.J. Chark is the hotter of the two.

What is Dede Westbrook’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 5?

Dede Westbrook is starting to show some signs of life. A week after catching five passes for 46 yards, Westbrook caught five more passes for 66 yards in the Jaguars Week 4 win over the Denver Broncos. Westbrook has not been accumulating large yardage totals, but it was the third time in four weeks he has caught five passes. He finished the game with 11.6 DKFP.

The Jaguars travel to face the Carolina Panthers in Week 5. Westbrook’s price dropped $200 to $5,300. Although he offers some modest PPR value, you’re better off starting his cheaper teammate, D.J. Chark. At $5,000, Chark has outperformed Westbrook in three of the first four weeks this season. That being said, this might not be the best week for either, facing a Panthers defense that gives up the seventh fewest fantasy points to wide receivers.

What is Dede Westbrook’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 4?

Westbrook bounced back with a decent performance in Week 3, catching five passes for 46 yards. His day could have been huge, if not for three drops — including one on a 22-yard pass into the end zone. He led the team in targets with nine, but D.J. Chark appears to have the better chemistry with rookie quarterback Gardner Minshew.

The Jaguars played on Thursday, so we do not have Week 4 prices yet. They travel to face the Denver Broncos, who will be coming off a road game against the Green Bay Packers. The Broncos gave up 105 yards to Tyrell Williams in Week 1, and 98 yards to Emmanuel Sanders in Week 2. The second best receiver in those games accrued 16 and 40 yards, respectively. Regardless of price, Westbrook will have limited value in Week 4.

What is Dede Westbrook’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 3?

It was a quite Week 2 for Westbrook. He was targeted five times, but only managed one reception for three yards in the Jaguars 13-12 loss to the Texans. He had an offensive pass interference call that brought back another catch. Quarterback Gardner Minshew spread the ball around, although D.J. Chark was his favorite target on the day with nine looks.

Westbrook and the Jaguars host the Tennessee Titans in Week 3 on Thursday Night Football. Westbrook’s salary sits at $5,400, and heading into the third week of the season, it’s hard to see much value for Westbrook for the time being.

What is Dede Westbrook’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 2?

Westbrook’s in an odd situation moving forward. He had a solid Week 1, securing 5-of-6 targets for 30 yards and a touchdown, and also gained a couple yards on a rushing attempt. His 14.2 DKFP didn’t let us down, but now his salary goes up $600, and he’ll be in an offense led by Gardner Minshew rather than Nick Foles (who’s on IR with a broken collarbone).

While the Week 2 matchup against a Houston defense that got gashed through through the air in Week 1 doesn’t scare me, getting on the same page with Minshew does. DJ Chark and Chris Conley both topped 20 DKFP in Week 1 against the Chiefs (on 11 combined targets), so maybe this group of Jacksonville WRs is better than we anticipated. I’d prefer to pay down for one of those options, but we’ll see if Westbrook’s able to carve out a larger role.

Dede Westbrook 2019 fantasy football preview

After injuries limited him to seven games as a rookie, Westbrook was at least fantasy-relevant in 2018, catching 66-of-101 targets for 717 yards and five touchdowns in 16 games. Now keep in mind Westbrook will be upgrading to Nick Foles in 2019, and it’s hard not to see that catch rate going up, along with the rest of his numbers. The duo already hooked up for a touchdown in limited preseason snaps together.

While the Jacksonville Jaguars might not be the most hyped up team entering this season, they’re going to have a shot at the division after the Andrew Luck retirement news. Leonard Fournette will be the focal point offensively, but Westbrook should be the next-most important skill position player. Names like Terrelle Pryor and Keelan Cole don’t present much of a threat and have taken giant steps backwards from what they once were as fantasy options.

As the top WR in an offense getting a QB upgrade, Westbrook has some nice bargain appeal in 2019.

What is Dede Westbrook’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 1?

Westbrook presents terrific value on the Week 1 main slate, checking in at $4,800 at home against the Chiefs. He found his way to double-digit DK points in nine games last season and averaged 11.5 overall, which was impressive given his QB situation.

Kansas City ranked 26th in DK points allowed to WRs in 2018 and isn’t a big favorite in Jacksonville — KC is -4 on the spread. Twenty-eight WRs are priced higher than Westbrook on the Week 1 main slate, which has him priced down with other teams’ WR2 and WR3 options. There’s potential for high volume here against the Chiefs, especially with the chance the Jags could be playing from behind in a high-scoring game.
