How to handle Le’Veon Bell’s injury in Week 14 fantasy football

Bell has been dealing with an illness this week, leaving some question about his status for Sunday’s game.

UPDATE: Le’Veon Bell has been downgraded to OUT for Week 14 due to his illness. Ty Montgomery and Bilal Powell are the primary backup running backs and will likely end up splitting time with Bell sidelined. The Dolphins stink, but it’s hard to justify starting either running back without knowing more about the workload split.

The New York Jets have officially listed as questionable for this week’s game. Bell has been dealing with an illness, and did not practice either Thursday or Friday of this week. However, it is pretty rare for a player to miss a game with the flu (or cold, or whatever), especially after catching the bug early enough during the week leading up to the game.

Bell has been one of the more disappointing free agent additions this years, but, that could also be the black hole that is the New York Jets. Either way, his production totals are underwhelming, but at least he does get the touches. He has not cracked the 100-yard mark in a single game all season, and has just three rushing touchdowns and one receiving score in his first year with the Jets.

Fantasy football analysis, New York Jets RB Le’Veon Bell

Assuming Bell does play this week, he has a good matchup against the Dolphins. He’ll get 15 touches, at least, in both the ground and passing game, and against this defense that could result in some solid numbers.

If you’re looking at Bell in DK leagues, his salary this week is $7,200, making him one of the more expensive running backs. You can probably find a player with a higher ceiling for a similar price.
