The Trail Blazers announced guard Rodney hood suffered a torn left Achilles in Friday’s game vs. the Lakers. This is a big blow for the Blazers, who are already shorthanded in the front court, and now will likely be without Hood for the remainder of the season. He had posted no points with two rebounds and an assist in nine minutes before the injury.

So with Hood out for likely the season, we can expect Afernee Simons to take on a large role for Portland moving forward. Chances are Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum will also have to step up, something they haven’t really been doing so far this season. Obviously the addition of Carmelo Anthony was nice for a little bit, but now it’s look pretty rough for the Blazers down big to the Lakers on Friday night. Portland may also have no choice but to turn to Mario Herzonja to play a bigger role, possibly in the starting lineup for the rest of 2019-20.
