Greg Olsen unlikely to play in Week 14

Panthers TE Greg Olsen is working through the concussion protocol and missed his second straight practice in Week 14. We break down the fantasy football implications.

The Carolina Panthers will likely be without tight end Greg Olsen when they face the Atlanta Falcons in Week 14. Olsen suffered a concussion last week and did not practice on Wednesday or Thursday, per beat writer Joe Person.

The Panthers have one more day of practice on Friday. If Olsen can get in a limited workout for that practice, he could still get cleared for Sunday. If he is a DNP, he will not be cleared for the game.

Ian Thomas replaced Olsen after the concussion and finished the game against Washington with four receptions for 24 yards.

Fantasy football analysis: Panthers TE Ian Thomas, Greg Olsen

The Falcons defense is a mess, and has been fairly middle of the road against tight ends. The tight end position across the league is pretty weak for fantasy football players, so Thomas offers some decent upside if Olsen does not play. He’s worth considering in 14+ team leagues, particularly in PPR leagues.
