How to handle betting on Bucks vs. Pistons

Milwaukee seeks 13th straight win on the road against Detroit. We break down the lines and odds on DraftKings Sportsbook.

The Milwaukee Bucks (18-3) will seek their 13th straight victory when they take on the Detroit Pistons (8-13) on Wednesday night. Giannis Antetokounmpo is the frontrunner to win NBA MVP at +190 and he’s got the Bucks looking like the title teams in the 1970s. The Pistons are coming off back-to-back wins and are playing for the second time in as many nights. Let’s break down how to handle betting for Bucks-Pistons tonight.

Note: Blake Griffin and Derrick Rose are not listed on the injury report and will play.

Bucks vs. Pistons spread, over/under, money line

Spread: Pistons (+8.5)
Over/Under: 225
Money line: Bucks (-420), Pistons (+330)

The way the Bucks are playing, this spread is very surprising. The Pistons will be the toughest team Milwaukee has faced since the Jazz on Nov. 25. The Bucks have covered this type of spread in eight of their past 12 games. They made easy work of the Pistons back on Nov. 23 in a 104-90 win. If Blake Griffin rests tonight, I wouldn’t give Detroit any real chance of winning and a very slim shot at covering. The OVER/UNDER would only really be hit if the Bucks go off, but the Pistons are at least somewhat OK on defense, allowing 108 points per game. The point total from their last meeting was 194, so the UNDER makes sense to me.

I think this is the night the Bucks get a bit of a run for their money. Division opponent on the road. With that in mind, I still think they can cover this spread and pick up their 13th straight win.

Prediction: Bucks 105, Pistons 92

Giannis Antetokounmpo prop bets

Giannis’ player props are all so high I don’t know if I touch them against the Pistons. For one, they are tough to contain down low with Andre Drummond and Griffin (if he doesn’t rest). Giannis had 28 points and 10 rebounds in the last meeting, which wouldn’t have hit the OVER of 30.5 points and points/assists/rebounds total of 47.5. If the Bucks blow out the Pistons — which I don’t really think happens, but is possible — then Antetokounmpo wouldn’t play enough minutes. I’m OK fading his props and looking elsewhere for value.
