Best options at power forward for DraftKings NBA contests on Dec. 4

Lakers PF Anthony Davis was dealing with flu-like symptoms last night in a win over the Nuggets. He played through and had 25 points and 10 rebounds, but chances are we could see him sit tonight’s road game against the Jazz out. If that’s the case, it would likely impact the landscape at PF in a big way. Let’s take a look.

How would Anthony Davis being ruled out affect the slate?

The first thing that comes to mind when Davis ($9,400) is ruled out is this: Is LeBron James now the chalk? I think in this case LeBron would be chalk at $10,000 taking on a competitive team by himself essentially. James would have to go beast mode in order to get LA another road win against a good defensive team. We also know Kyle Kuzma ($3,900) was dealing with an illness as well, so if both PFs are out, JaVale McGee ($4,100) and Dwight Howard ($3,600) would play alongside LeBron in the front court. Though all three aren’t PF eligible.

Well, what the hell then, who are the top power forwards?

Honestly, there isn’t anyone who really stands out other than Giannis Antetokounmpo ($11,800). I talked about Giannis at SF, so slot him in at either position. There are a few mid-range plays I like, most notably Jaren Jackson Jr ($6,800) and Jonathan Isaac ($6,800). JJJ goes up against the Bulls, who can’t rebound. Plus, the Grizzlies frontcourt is thin without Brandon Clarke and possibly Jonas Valanciunas again. Triple-J could play 35+ minutes in a strong matchup. He’d be a decent cash-game play.

The Magic are on the second of a B2B and could rest some guys like Aaron Gordon and Mo Bamba. Isaac played 37 minutes last night and he’s young, so I don’t expect them to hold him back much. The Suns don’t have many bodies down low who can deal with Isaac’s athleticism, so I think he’ll be a solid GPP target at low ownership.
