The DraftKings Super Pool pick ‘em contest is coming down the home stretch, and the race for $250,000 is going to come down to the wire. Contestant JoeD0914 heads into Week 14 with a three-pick lead, but they have burned through their picks and are left waiting and hoping for a December collapse by the host of contestants in the top ten.
Pick ‘em contests have grown in popularity with the widening legalization of sports betting. The DraftKings contest offers significantly more flexibility than others with how contestants can make picks. The contest began in Week 4 and requires contestants make 70 picks over the course of the season from Week 4 to Week 17. That averages out to five picks per week, but you are not required to make five picks every week.
As the leaderboard below shows heading into Week 14, the current lead has used up all their picks User c4242e is in a tie for third place with 42 correct picks and still has ten picks remaining. There’s a large group tied with 42 correct picks, and a handful have a chance to make a serious move in the next couple weeks.
This past weekend, the Chicago Bears were the most popular pick among the nearly 1,000 contestants. This is not a shocker given the line movement we saw once Jeff Driskel was unable to play. David Blough impressed on Thanksgiving, but the Bears managed to just cover.
Contestants also did not trust the Jacksonville Jaguars or Indianapolis Colts at home. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Tennessee Titans were the next two most popular picks that covered.
On the other side of things the Chargers and Eagles were popular picks that came up short. The Broncos win over LA was not entirely surprising given the Chargers’ struggles and the divisional nature. The Eagles upset at the hands of the Dolphins was a bit of a stunner. Philadelphia is struggling, but Miami has been pretty bad this season. The Fitzmagic was real however, as Ryan Fitzpatrick helped lead the outright upset.
