UPDATE
Le’Veon Bell is out with an illness. Bilal Powell is next in line to be the lead back in a good matchup with the Dolphins.
Josh Jacobs is officially questionable with his shoulder injury. If he does play, we can’t expect a big workload. DeAndre Washington and Jalen Richard would split work in relief.
Jordan Howard likely won’t play, giving Miles Sanders another start.
Damien Williams is out and Darrell Williams is on I.R. LeSean McCoy will be the lead back while Darwin Thompson and Spencer Ware will get work behind him.
Marlon Mack will play this week and doesn’t sound like he will have limitations. But a matchup with the Bucs and any chance he will share work more than usual isn’t a great spot for his upside to hit.
We are officially in the fantasy playoffs. Congratulations if you made it here still alive. It has been a long hard road with injuries and plenty of tough decisions that went wrong, but you persevered and have a shot at taking home the plastic trophy and hopefully some cold cash money.
Good luck!
Injury/Status Report
James Conner is questionable for this week and may practice but isn’t looking great to take on the Cardinals. Benny Snell would again lead the way if he can’t go.
Ronald Jones was benched for missing a blitz pickup in Week 13, likely giving Peyton Barber more work moving forward.
Dalvin Cook says he will “definitely” play this week but we’ll need to see him get in a practice or two to be sure. Even if he does play, we could see more Alexander Mattison if Cook isn’t 100 percent.
Kyle Shanahan is “optimistic” that Matt Breida will play this week. If he does, the 49ers running back situation gets even murkier.
Andy Reid said there is a “good chance” Darrel Williams (hamstring) doesn’t play and didn’t update Damien Williams’ injury. If both Williams are out, LeSean McCoy and Darwin Thompson would both see work against the Patriots.
RB Ranking Tiers
Tier 1
Leonard Fournette has become a PPR stud with nine receptions in each of his last two games and this week he gets a nice matchup with the Chargers.
Melvin Gordon has 20 or more rushing attempts in three of his last four games and this week he gets a Jaguars defense that allows the sixth-most fantasy points to running backs.
Tier 2
Alvin Kamara has seen 4, 13, 11, 11 rushing attempts since returning from his injury, but has 8, 10, 9 and 4 receptions in that stretch as well. His lack of touchdowns has become troubling to his upside but his receptions keep him as a top PPR play and the touchdowns should come.
James White was the best fantasy running back last week and this week he faces a Chiefs defense that has given up the second-most receiving yards to running backs.
RB Streamers
Tarik Cohen faces a Dallas defense that has given up the sixth-most receptions and ninth-most receiving yards to running backs
