If you took the LSU Tigers to cover and/or cashed in on the over, you’re a very happy bettor heading into the second College Football Playoff semifinal. If you parlayed the two, congratulations. Get out and spend that cash on what’s already a fantastic Saturday night for you. LSU crushed Oklahoma 63-28 to advance to the National Championship game.
For Oklahoma Sooners bettors, hey sometimes it’s better to get it completely wrong than it is to have your heart ripped out in the final seconds. Oklahoma +13.5 backers had a brief moment of hope after a quick score highlighted by a 51-yard touchdown for CeeDee Lamb, capped off with Kennedy Brooks scoring from three yards out to tie the game at 7.
After that, it was all LSU, heading into halftime ahead 49-14.
The Tigers and Sooners went into the Peach Bowl featuring two of the top offenses in the entire sport, but it was an absolute landslide in favor of Joe Burrow and the LSU offense.
Burrow completed 21 of 27 passes for 403 yards and seven touchdown passes, but that was just his first half performance. The Heisman winner finished 29-for-39 with 493 yards and seven touchdown passes. He also added 22 yards rushing and a touchdown on the ground. Several of his passes went in the direction of Justin Jefferson, who caught four touchdown passes with 227 yards on 14 catches.
Burrow and the LSU starters remained in the game through the third quarter and finished the possession that leaked into the fourth before calling off the dogs and bringing in the backups.
The over/under in this one came in at 75, so LSU made this one pretty easy for those rooting for the points. Jalen Hurts’ 12-yard rushing touchdown on fourth-and-9 made the over official to make it a 56-21 game midway through the third quarter.
Fans and sports bettors are always looking for something to root for, so at halftime we suggested to take Oklahoma +6.5 for the second half line, considering it would be likely LSU sits its stars down the stretch avoiding injuries or potential targeting suspensions. But we were right as both teams added 14 points after halftime, giving the Sooners a second half cover. The over/under of the second half came in at 32.5 so if you hit on the under, you were a winner.
