The LSU Tigers are crushing the Oklahoma Sooners in the College Football Playoff semifinals, and it would take an epic comeback for Jalen Hurts and company to have a shot. Oddsmakers don’t expect the Sooners to get on track.
LSU leads Oklahoma 49-14 at halftime and DraftKings Sportsbook has the second half line set at LSU -6.5. The second half point total is installed at 32.5 points. Considering how badly LSU is beating Oklahoma, at some point the Tigers are likely to call off the dogs, bring in backups, and try and just finish this game as healthy as they can be for the national title game.
Joe Burrow had a monster first half, completing 21 of 27 passes for 403 yards and seven touchdowns. He connected with Justin Jefferson for four of the touchdowns, Terrace Marshall for two, and Thaddeus Moss for another one.
It’s safe to say backup quarterback Myles Brennan is going to get playing time tonight, and it might be the largest share of the season. Starter Clyde Edwards-Helaire played after being a question mark, but after two carries for 14 yards, head coach Ed Orgeron said he is likely not going to play in the second half. No sense risking an injury aggravation with this kind of lead.
Second half pick
Given all this, it makes sense to ride with Oklahoma to cover the second half spread. Lincoln Riley showed he’s one of the best offensive minds in the sport, and this is a LSU defense that can be scored on. With no reason to continue sending out its best players risking injury or even potential targeting, LSU already made the statement it wanted to make. Let’s go with the Sooners to give us something to cheer for in the second half.
