In the first College Football Playoff game of the day, there will be no shortage of playmakers especially on offense during the Peach Bowl between LSU and Oklahoma. The current over/under for this game is sitting at 75. Of course this will feature some incredible offensive talent.
LSU Tigers
Offense
How can you go against the Heisman Trophy winner? Joe Burrow had as close to a perfect season as you can get. The man completed 77.9% of his passes. Unreal. That completion percentage led to 4,715 yards with 48 touchdowns and six interceptions. More importantly? He outdueled Alabama and took down the Crimson Tide on the road. Could we see Burrow going up against his former team Ohio State? What a story that would be.
Ja’Marr Chase leads the country with 18 touchdown receptions and needs 155 yards over the next one or two games to be the season’s leading receiver in yardage. LSU is loaded at receiver, but Chase stands out among the rest.
Defense
Talk about an incredible freshman season for LSU cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. We get at least two more years to watch this guy play college football, so make it count. Stingley led the SEC with six interceptions, and he could be a difference maker as Jalen Hurts has struggled with turnovers recently.
Oklahoma Sooners
Offense
It all stars with quarterback Jalen Hurts for the Sooners. He has looked great this season, but he has also struggled late in the season forcing plays that weren’t there. He committed multiple turnovers in three of the last four games. His story is pretty phenomenal and probably a reason he received so much Heisman votes. From being benched at halftime of the national title game to moving on and winning a championship with another team? That would be movie-type stuff if he can make it happen.
In addition to having an awesome name, CeeDee Lamb has been an outstanding wide receiver in the Oklahoma offense. He currently has 1,208 receiving yards for eighth best in the country, but he could creep into the top five with 34 yards on Saturday. He also caught 58 passes with 14 for touchdowns.
Defense
Oklahoma linebacker Kenneth Murray is the leader on a much-improved defense from last season. The Sooners still have the potential to give up plenty of points, but it’s not nearly as bad as it has been in the past. Murray led the team with 95 tackles this season. He is projected to be selected in the first two round of the NFL Draft this spring.
